    Woah woah... is it that people thought he hits the blocks with his head? The stupidest thing I ever heard. Even all the SMB parodies have Mario hitting blocks with his fist. :S

    According to Shigeru Miyamoto, in the original game Mario is actually holding onto his hat while he is airborne - To prevent Mario's hair from being exposed. Since at the time he designed Mario, a.k.a Jumpman, he couldn't draw hair.
